We had the privilege of tasting Onam Sadhya on 8th September. All the dishes had authentic flavors of Kerala and was lovingly home made by Girish and his wife, paying attention to authenticity. Highly recommended in Vellore.

Kerala Homely food at it's best ! Went in search for some kanji, payaru, chammanthi, and Alshams did not disappoint me in it either. Would have been happier if the cost could be brought down further.

**Al-Shams: The Dynamic Duo of Vellore’s Food Scene—Inspiring, Feeding, and Juggling Life Like Pros!** If you’ve ever wandered around Vellore on the weekend, you know every spot here has a story to tell. This time, my two friends and I stumbled upon *Al-Shams*, a place that looked like just another eatery from the outside, but inside? It’s a full-blown reality show where Superman and Superwoman are juggling kids, cooking, and somehow saving the day with Kerala food. I’m still not sure if they sleep—ever. I’ve got one kid at home, and just keeping up with them feels like a full-time job. But this couple? They run a business, raise two kids, and whip up meals like it’s the easiest thing in the world. Honestly, they made me rethink my whole definition of “hard-working.” I was so inspired that I might actually *attempt* to pack a better lunch for my kid tomorrow. Maybe. The food? Homely, no doubt. But not just homely in the “simple and tasty” way. No, no. When they say "homely food," they *literally* mean “pull up a chair, we’ll feed you what we feed our own kids.” That’s the next level of hospitality, right? And the menu? It’s exactly like walking into your mom’s kitchen—limited but comforting. No 100-page menu here, just good, solid food that reminds every Malayalee of home. Now, here’s the kicker: when it came time to thank the amazing team behind this operation, we only managed to snap a photo of the husband. Oops. But let’s be real, the lady of the house deserves a *huge* shoutout too! They complement each other like appam and stew—equally essential, equally irreplaceable. So, big thanks to her as well! If only we had a superhero family portrait to hang on the wall. For those of you looking for a Michelin-starred experience—this isn’t that. But if you’re looking for a place where the food feels like a hug from your grandma, and you leave feeling like you’ve been adopted into a new family, this is *the* spot. Simple, honest, and full of heart. Just like the people running it. So, to all you hungry wanderers in Vellore—*Al-Shams* is waiting. And if you happen to snap a pic of both the heroes behind this operation, consider yourself lucky!
